Liven up your SharePoint pages with moving RSS feeds. Replace the boring built-in RSS Web Part with one that scrolls, flashes, blinks etc. It will not only look great it will allow you to display RSS feeds from other SharePoint subsites without the annoying permission error given by the inbuilt Web Part.
This means that any list, including announcements, can be used as the source feed.
The following screencast shows the SharePoint RSS Rotator Web Part in action. All of the settings of the Web Part shown below are set to default except the number of items to display; the transition time has been increased. All configuration settings are available through the Web Part settings within the browser.
As seen in many Web Parts that come with MOSS, the SharePoint RSS Rotator allows the user to select a list from the out-of-the-box list picker instead of having to manually enter the URL of the list feed.
Because every user will want their RSS feed to look different, be it to appease the branding gods or to simply spice up a site in their own personal way, the SharePoint RSS Rotator allows the user to fully customise the look and feel of how the RSS feed is displayed. As with other Web Parts, such as the Content Query Web Part and the XML Web Part, the user interface can be configured using XSL. To aid in the XSL development, we've included a "Show Raw XML" button that allows you to see exactly what XML is being transformed by your XSL.
The SharePoint RSS Rotator has a number of custom properties that allow the user to configure features like visual effects (such as fading, scrolling, sliding, etc), transition times, number of items to display/import, and much more.
